In the health and fitness world, there are always new studies coming out about foods and exercises that prove to be better for you than others. With all this information, we are constantly able to learn about things that can help or hinder us on our fitness journey. I want to be one of the people who provides you with help! Below, I have listed 4 different tricks, trades, facts and secrets that you -more than likely- don’t know. Read on to see if you learn something new!

1. GET YOUR SLEEP
Did you know that for us to be fully functioning adults, working to the best of our capabilities, we need between 7-9 hours of sleep each night? It’s true! Sleep isn’t just for lazy people, it is for people who want to perform at the peak of their abilities. Sleep is required for our brains to function at their prime.

2. INGREDIENT REPLACEMENTS
When we cook, we may come across some not so healthy ingredients in our recipes, right? If only there were some foods that could replace those bad ingredients… Oh, wait – there are! Try these…
• Sugar ? Apple Sauce
• Sugar? Vanilla Extract
• Butter? Mashed Avocados
• Butter? Bananas
• Canola Oil? Greek Yogurt

3. PROPER FORM
Do you ever get funny pains in your neck, knees, or back when you work out? You aren’t alone. In fact, over 75% of active people have admitted to having some sort of pain during physical activity or workouts. The most common reason for these aches and pains is improper form. When doing the following exercises, keep these things in mind:
• Plank: Make sure your hips aren’t sinking to the ground, your back is flat, and your hands are aligned under your shoulders on the floor.
• Crunch: Don’t pull your neck with your hands behind your head. Have them resting softly back there and keep your head in a neutral and natural position; not stiff
• Squat: Keep your chest proud, your head up, and don’t push your knees over your toes when you bend down.

4. EAT CLEAN FOODS
Sure you know that eating clean, healthy and natural foods can aid in weight loss, but there are many other benefits like…
• Stronger immune system
• Better hearing
• Clear skin
• Increased energy
• Improved brain functionality
