Gold’s Gym Turning 55!

To celebrate, we’re working out through the decades with custom, era-inspired workout playlists and more.

by goldsgym

In the summer of 1965, bodybuilder and former Merchant Marine Joe Gold founded Gold’s Gym in a cinder-block building in Venice Beach, California, with equipment he built himself.

55 years later, what began as a small gym at the beach has grown into a global phenomenon. Thanks to word of mouth, Pumping Iron, and an explosion in fitness culture, Gold’s Gym has grown into what it is today: the world’s most iconic fitness brand. Five and a half decades since the Mecca first opened, Gold’s Gym now has nearly 700 gyms in 29 countries around the globe.

We are going to be celebrating our 55th birthday all week long on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  We have a few surprises up our sleeves so be sure to check back here throughout the week.  Help us celebrate by tagging us and using #Golds55!
