Hypertension

The health and well-being of our Team Members is crucial to their personal and professional success. Through Aetna's Member Wellness Message Program we offer a series of single topic educational messages with targeted content. These messages will address general health and wellness topics, such as childhood immunizations and weight management, from recognized sources. For this month, the focus is on hypertension. (PDF)

 

It’s time for you to step out!

Walking 30 minutes a day can make you healthier and more energetic.  It can also help reduce your Real Age (sorry, we can’t reverse your calendar age) by reducing your risk of heart attack and by lowering “bad” cholesterol and raising “good” cholesterol.  A brisk walk is a great way to reduce stress, depression, and feelings of anxiety.  Walking may be the single best thing you can do for your health and it doesn't require special equipment. 

-Walking 30 minutes above and beyond adds about 3,000 to 4,000 additional steps a day. 

-Even with no change in diet, 30 minutes per day of walking may prevent weight gain. Walking reduces your risk of heart attack.

-Walking reduces your risk of developing high blood pressure and may reduce it. Regular walking reduces your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

-A brisk walk is a great way to reduce stress, depression and feelings of anxiety. You can take three 10 minute walks each and get the same benefits of 30 minutes of straight walking.
