I recently provided you guys with PART 1 of “Things You Don’t Want to Hear about Weight Loss”. This is the second half and trust me, you DO NOT want to skip out on this valuable information.
By reading these points, you are potentially saving yourself from some very unpleasant surprises. As I previously said, what I am sharing with you is not sugar coated and overall, some pretty brutal truths. Take a look!
*CAUTION: If you want to continue living in a fairytale world, stop reading now.
You CAN NOT revert back to old habits
Man, if there is one thing I get tired of preaching to my clients, it’s this. It’s so common for people to think. “Alright! I reached my weight loss goal! Now, I want to go pig out as a reward!” *Insert trainer shaking their head, with their hands over their eyes.* Y’all, it doesn’t work like that. Once you get to your goal weight, that doesn’t give you a free ticket to go stuff your face at the buffet or go back to plopping down on the couch every afternoon after work until bed time. No. It doesn’t mean that at all. You got to where you are by putting in hard work and discipline. Do you really think that you can go back to your bad habits and still keep up all the success that you earned? No, you ABSOLUTELY can’t do that.
Maintenance WILL BE a challenge
Pshh. And you thought that the hard part was over! Sorry guys but the truth is, once your weight loss goal has been achieved, you have to maintain it. What does that mean exactly? Well, it means that you are going to have to continue exercising your willpower when you go out to eat with friends or when you are surrounded by drinks at a party. It also means that you don’t get to just stop working out. You MUST keep up all the hard work. It’s been said before by me and I know you have heard it elsewhere, but you have committed to a LIFESTYLE change. Keeping your weight down will be hard, but only if you let it. Surround yourself with people that are good for your success and want to see you at your best. Those people have seen you put in the hard work and want you to continue being the happy and healthier person that you worked so hard to become.
Sagging skin CAN definitely happen
This absolutely is not a glamorous part of losing weight. Unfortunately, for the majority of us, it’s a reality that just has to be embraced. At one point, I had a client that had lost a substantial amount of weight on her own before she decided to start working with me. Sadly, she went about it in a very dangerous way, which resulted in her dropping a lot of weight in an incredibly short time frame. Because of that, her skin elasticity wasn’t able to keep up with the rate at which she was losing weight. It broke my heart to have to explain that the skin can’t recover from the “trauma” it went through. This is one of the many reasons it is important to lose weight at a moderate rate by doing it in a healthy way.
As you see, there are many different things that can happen when we lose weight. Things that aren’t so positive. Unfortunately, no one talks about these things so they catch us off guard when it’s time for us to go through the weight loss process ourselves. No worries though! You are now thoroughly informed and know exactly what can be expected after a significant weight loss experience.
