It’s the not so glamorous aspect of the health and fitness world. It’s the things we know in our gut, but do our best to ignore and push to the back of our minds. What am I referring to? The TRUTH. The truth is the reality of weight loss and all the things we don’t want to hear about it, because it could reveal all the lies and false hopes that so many commercials, sales-people and products sell with false pretenses. These people make a living off of our emotions and frustrations. They know that we will do the most outrageous things if it will promise us a better body.
Well, I am about to tell you some brutal truths for the next few minutes. You may not like what you read and I hate it for you, but I much rather would have you be mad at the truth that comes from me, than be disappointed and sad from the lies and deceit provided to you by others.
*CAUTION: If you want to continue living in a fairytale world, stop reading now.
You CAN NOT pick where you lose weight
It’s plain and simple. YOU do not get to pick and choose where you lose weight. Did you get to pick where you put your body fat on? No, you didn’t. So what makes you think you can just decide where you can take it away from? Your body chooses where it wants to store body fat. It varies for everyone of all ages and genders. The only way to target a specific area to remove body fat, is to have it surgically removed from your body.
Bad eating habitsCAN NOT be negated through exercise.
I have seen this more times more than I can count. People go out to eat each night of the week, or out for drinks and dinner on the weekends and then come into the gym thinking they can just work off all the bad decisions they made. Sorry friends, that’s a big ‘ol myth. The best result you might see from going this route, is you could potentially continue to maintain your present appearance/weight. In no way, shape or form is it scientifically possible for you to eat Mexican food 3 nights a week and a sugary coffee drink each day and result in a lean healthy body.
All the ab work in the world WILL NOT give you a six pack.
This one probably cut you to the core, huh? (Pun intended.) I mean it though. It really and truly breaks my heart to walk around the gym and see the same people doing the same exercise 100 times or more, on the same piece of equipment, each time they come to the gym. It just doesn’t work like that guys. You must work out the whole body and eat properly to see definition in your stomach region. Over exercising your core is never going to benefit you.
Not eating WILL NOT aid in healthy weight loss.
Sure, starving yourself can result in actual weight loss, but it isn’t going to be the kind you are looking for. By not providing our bodies nourishment, we are forcing our bodies to get that nourishment elsewhere. Where is elsewhere exactly? It’s from itself. The body begins to cannibalize itself and breakdown muscle tissue to sustain itself. Your body LITERALLY begins to eat itself because you aren’t feeding it. That isn’t the only thing that can happen due to denying yourself nourishment; your body can also realize you aren’t feeding it and then begins to store the fat you have because it doesn’t know when it is going to be fed again. Not only does not eating cause your body to eat muscle tissue and store body fat, it will also result in your brain function to be iffy. It can cause memory loss, blurry vision and your attention span to be very, very short.
