I was asked by my brother in law a couple weeks ago, “What does cucumber infused water actually do for you?” After I answered his question (with probably more detail than he bargained for) I thought to myself, “Gah. He’s probably not the only person out there who doesn’t know what infusing water is all about.” So, that’s what brings me to today’s article!
We see flavored waters all over the grocery store isles and on commercials but many people know that a lot of those flavored drinks aren’t too healthy for us and they want better options. That leads me to water infusion and what it is all about. Water infusion and its benefits really aren’t hard to understand. Once you accept that it isn’t a magic weight loss potion, you will be able to see and understand the positive things that it actually does offer.
Water is the go to solution for hydrating ourselves. But, what a lot of people forget is that certain fruits and vegetables contain incredibly large amounts of water on their own. So adding in fruits and vegetables to your water, provides a nice natural hydration plus.
A lot of people I have met and trained have asked me if there is anything they can drink besides water because they know it is good for them, but they don’t like the way it tastes. You may be like me and think that’s incredibly weird, but it’s oddly enough a pretty common complaint from people.
Adding in fruits and vegetables to water provide a great natural flavor to that old “boring” taste that water naturally provides.
*Here are a few of my favorite flavor combinations you may want to try out:
Pineapple & Mint Leaves
Strawberry & Blueberries
Cucumber & Mint Leaves
Orange, Lemon & Lime
Vitamins and Minerals & Overall Health
Now, don’t twist my words after you read this. In no way am I saying you get your daily recommendation of specific minerals and vitamins that your body needs, by adding fruits and vegetables to your water.
However, what I do want you to know, is that by adding in fresh fruits and vegetables to your water, you are taking in some of the nutrients that these foods have to offer. Things like Vitamin C come from your acidic fruits like oranges and lemons and then strawberries provide the benefits of Vitamins B2, B5, B6 and Zinc.
By adding in these fruits and vegetables, you are helping your body become overall better in many ways. Here are just a few of the benefits you can receive:
