Name – Alice B. Sims
Nick Name – Coach or Sgt. Sims
Background – I began my coaching, training, fitness, and recreation career in 1983. I have coached athletes on the amateur, collegiate, and professional level. I have also taught aerobics, step aerobics, body pump, cross conditioning, and boot camp classes since 1983.
Certifications – The National Council on Certified Personal Trainers and the American Association of Fitness Professionals.
Fitness Philosophy – My life motto is “no excuses”. I aim to help my clients reach their full potential and to take every step along the way with them to reach their personal fitness goals. I strongly believe that trainers should practice what they preach and act as a positive role model for clients. I stress to all of my clients that an investment in their health is an investment that will add years to their life.
What drew you to the fitness world– When I was young I saw the positive benefits of sports and athletics. I made a promise to myself that I would be the best athlete that I could be and remain healthy and fit for the rest of my life. After competing in college, I worked a few youth track and field camps at the Florida State University. I fell in love with coaching and began teaching aerobics at local community centers. My life goal is to help people.
What is your favorite thing about Gold’s Gym- I love being around the Gold’s Gym family. People of all different shapes, sizes, and colors join together for one common goal.
Favorite Client Story – When one of my clients began training with me she needed to stop and take a break almost every minute. She had no muscle strength, endurance, balance, or cardiovascular fitness. She always said she wanted to be able to do one push up. After her commitment to months of personal training, she improved to completing full 30-minute sessions with minimum breaks and could do regular push-ups without stopping. She actually works out with her daughters and she is able to keep up with them during the workout sessions.
Training Specialties - My training strengths are with men and women, athletes, and group exercise.
