I have worked at Gold’s Gym for 5 years now, and I know many of you very well. I have never seen the high levels of support that’s been pouring in the last 2 days, and it has made me feel incredibly blessed to be a part of your community.
Tuesday morning, we had a power outage at our Sterling gym that forced us to temporarily close. The power company installed a new transformer several hours later and gave us the all-clear to open. Shortly after opening the gym, we noticed flickering lights, and we, immediately, evacuated the facility. After the facility was evacuated, an electrical fire took place in a small area which triggered the sprinkler system and caused water damage in some popular parts of the facility. We are beyond happy to report that everyone is safe, and, again, we all thank you so very much for all the support that has been pouring in!
We immediately hired a major restoration company to come and clean up the damage, and they are working tirelessly to do so. Once they finish this process, we will begin working with the power company and our landlord to replace their electrical equipment that was damaged.
Although we are unable to give a specific time frame for all this work to be completed, we can assure you that we are working tirelessly with generator powered computers and laptops here at the facility to get opened for you!
We, kindly, ask that our Sterling members utilize our facilities in Ashburn and Herndon, and we are working to move our staff and additional classes to these locations to accommodate the higher demand so that no one is inconvenienced. Members that have “Sterling-Only” access will be getting their memberships updated to include the other locations by Monday.
While we know that these solutions may not be ideal for everyone, we anticipate that they will work for most of you. We, sincerely, from the bottoms of our hearts, appreciate the support we are receiving from all of you during this time.
By Monday, Jeanne will announce the new class schedules for our other locations, and we hope to have a more accurate timeframe for you by then. For now, this is all the information that we have, but, as that changes, we will continue to provide you with details, updates and additional classes.
