GOLD’S GYM UTAH PARTNER WITH SUSAN G. KOMEN UTAH
WORKOUT FOR A CURE!
This October, Gold’s Gym Utah is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. Although statistically only 1 in 1,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer, a staggering 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point…
The good news is that many women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early.
- If you are a woman age 40 to 49, talk with your doctor about when to start getting mammograms and how often to get them.
- If you are a woman age 50 to 74, be sure to get a mammogram every 2 years. You may also choose to get them more often.
Talk to a doctor about your risk for breast cancer, especially if a close family member of yours had breast or ovarian cancer. Your doctor can help you decide when and how often to get mammograms. Gold’s Gym Utah will open up its doors free to the public during the entire month of October as part of the WORKOUT FOR A WORLD WITHOUT BREAST CANCER “I GIVE GOLD’S GYM GIVES” program. Gold’s Gym is also providing the public with a FREE 12 week Transformation Plan guide that helps in beginning an exercise program. Regular exercise along with eating healthy foods has been shown to help reduce the risk of being diagnosed with the disease.
Gold’s Gym Utah is donating over $2,500 to the Susan G. Komen Utah Foundation. Along with hosting many PINK BCA themed classes Gold’s Gym will give a free Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirt (while supplies last) to anyone who donates $10 towards the Susan G. Komen Foundation while at the gym during the month of October.
In 2016, an estimated 246,660 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone. So no matter who you are or where you live, understanding breast cancer is important. But the most important thing to know is this: a diagnosis is not a death sentence. Breast cancer can be treated. “We all have a friend or family member that has been affected by cancer,” said Casey Nielsen, Vice President of Operations for Gold’s Gym Utah. “Our company purpose is to help better the quality of life in the community and help individuals achieve their potential.”
Gold’s Gym is encouraging everyone to take a step towards preventing cancer by eating more healthy foods, getting the appropriate routine screenings with your physician, and signing up for a FREE 30-day trial workout including a free personalized 12 week transformation plan. In addition to providing you with the fundamentals on how start an exercise program – including setting goals, utilizing cardiovascular and strength training techniques and tips on staying motivated – the transformation plan also offers tips on nutrition and meal planning.
