Hello, my is Mark E. Leuschen and I am a Certified Personal Trainer here at Gold’s Gym in Richland, Washington. After graduating from Montana State University, where I competed collegiately in track as a middle distance runner, I found the passion to train and compete in longer distance races. I am an eight-time marathon finisher with a personal best of 2:38.11. I have personal best times of 34:17 for 10K, 56:20 for ten miles, and 1:16.40 for the half marathon. I am a veteran of over 75 road races and have trained runners of all ages and abilities to complete their first 5k road race or realize their dream of completing a marathon.
As I have gotten a little bit older in life, I have come to the brilliant realization that almost all of the things that I want to accomplish in the second half of my life involve good health. Having a bad back, or a bad knee, or a bad hip, or being overweight and out of shape would hinder those goals that I have set as I get closer to retirement age. Combining the satisfaction of working with people to reach their goals and my commitment to living a healthier lifestyle, I have decided to become a Certified Personal Trainer so I could help other people realize their fitness and health goals. I have attained my CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) certification through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) along with my NASM-WLS (Weight Loss Specialist) and my NASM-WFS (Woman’s Fitness Specialist) certifications. I am CPR and AED certified.
I specialize in endurance strength training. Incorporated into my endurance strength training is a mixture of balance, stability and agility training. Increasing cardiovascular fitness, strength endurance, balance, agility, and nutrition can be accomplished by anyone. I work with people individually or in small groups. If your goal is to lose some weight, tone up or make yourself a little leaner, hike trails without falling over, fish or golf all day long, beat your opponent in tennis, pick up your grandchildren, or enjoy any of the great outdoor activities that living in the Pacific Northwest has to offer, come in and see me and we can put a plan together that will accomplish those goals so you can get the full benefits of living a healthier life.
