I have been running as long as I can remember. I started competing at the International level at the age of 12. I attended Florida State University on a track scholarship as a heptathlete, sprinter, 400m Hurdler, and javelin thrower. Being coached at a top ranked Div 1 track program afforded me the amazing opportunity to live and train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
I started attending indoor cycle classes in order to cross train. It wasn’t long before I became certified and started teaching in 2005. I continued to cycle and run competing in duathlons until a good friend forced me ‘in the water’— and the triathlon bug bit hard! I have competed in every distance from Sprints to a Full Ironman.
The certifications I have been through have taught textbook aspects of coaching and teaching, but none can replace the experience I have as an athlete myself and the years I have been coached at a very high level. I learned how to train, motivate, educate, and help athletes visualize and formulate. In the physical sense, but also the mental sense…which I believe is the more important of the two. I coach cyclists, runners and triathletes, and I continue to compete. I also teach indoor cycle, strength, and strength/cardio fusion classes.
Fitness has always been a way of life for me. It is not something I do because I have to…. But because I truly enjoy it. And I love sharing fitness and health with others. It is the main reason I became an instructor! I have recently made my way back from Colorado to my native Florida and am thrilled to be a part of the team here at Gold’s.
