Dan Shaddrick is a 2009 graduate from SIUE with a double major in psychology and kinesiology. My final semester I completed an internship at the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I can honestly say that it was at this facility that I fell in love with personal training.
After graduating, I became a personal trainer at a commercial gym. I remained a personal trainer for 3 years where I developed a tremendous amount of experience working with a diverse population. The clients I trained ranged from 20 to 70 years of age, where their needs and goals included: pre-rehab, post-rehab, weight loss, athletic performance, increasing lean muscle mass, and others who just wanted to improve their day-to-day functionality.
After those 3 years I took a position in corporate wellness at the Walgreens Headquarters. At that facility I worked as a performance coach where I provided coaching services instead of fee-for-service training. Having been a trainer and performance coach has provided me arsenal of knowledge and unique skills that set my training apart from many others. The foundation of success for my clients is built upon having a positive mindset, approaching a goal with realistic expectations, proper nutrition, adherence to both cardio and strength training programs that are based on individualized needs and abilities, along with focusing on sufficient recovery.
