Charla Dawson has been an athlete all her life since the age of 2, starting with gymnastics.
I was a gymnast for 12 years and this really began my passion for fitness and what the body can actually achieve. At the age of 14, I was introduced to the weight room in high school along with playing volleyball, cheerleading, and track and field. I received the MVP award in all my sports and then it really hit me on how much I love fitness. After that, I knew I had to be in the fitness field the rest of my life. After high school I received two college scholarships in volleyball and cheerleading from Rend Lake College (RLC). I was involved in many cheerleading camps put on by my gymnast coach and did a lot of one-on-one training. After RLC, I attended Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) where I received two Bachelor degrees in Exercise Science/Nutrition & Recreation.
Although my knowledge for nutrition and fitness has grown, it has really grown the past 5 years since I was introduced to the sport of body building. I have been a physique competitor since 2009, placing top 5 in all my events. This is what brought me to where I am today, leading to my career as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Specialist. Nothing is more fulfilling than helping others live a healthy lifestyle and teaching them that anything is possible. I am currently a NASM certified personal trainer, NASM corrective exercise specialist (CES), and Gold’s Fit certified coach. I am currently attending Lindenwood University, getting my Master’s degree in Health and Human Performance/Exercise Science.
