I was involved in dance and cheerleading from elementary school through high school graduation, however the first time I found myself in a true gym environment was freshman year of college when I decided I needed to find a way to avoid gaining the “freshman 15.” I felt out of place in a gym setting and wasn’t sure where to begin. I started on the treadmill and decided to set a goal of being able to run one mile in under 10 minutes―something that I had never been able to achieve previously. I took it a quarter of a mile at a time, and within a few months I had met my goal.
My personal fitness journey continued after college, where I expanded my workouts to include a variety of group fitness classes at my local YMCA. I quickly discovered Zumba, which proved to be the perfect way to combine my love of dancing with my new found love of fitness. Eventually I found myself on the other side of the microphone, and began teaching group fitness classes in 2010.
Through group fitness I’ve found that I have a true passion for showing people how strong they are and enjoy being a source of motivation to help them reach their goals. This passion is what led me to pursue my Personal Training certification in 2016. My plan for clients regardless of their age, ability and personal goals is to make them feel welcome at the gym, provide them with a solid base of proper form and mobility, and to show them they can achieve any goals they are willing to work towards.
