Hit by a car at age 13, I was given a slim chance to walk again, but in physical therapy I discovered weight training and exercise. It changed my perspective and the trajectory of my life forever. Soon after college my brother and I opened an outpatient Physical Therapy clinic and worked with athletes from the high school (Bishop McDevitt Crusaders) to the professional level (the Hershey Impact Soccer Club). Within a few years, I became a managing partner and owner of a local health club (Woody’s Workout) where I first met Dianne Czupil.
We were the first club to bring Spinning to the Harrisburg market which I began teaching in 1995. As a trainer/owner, I was fortunate to work with many athletes (Harrisburg Senators & Harrisburg Piranha football club) to name a few, but specialized in training female bodybuilders and fitness competitors. One athlete even went on to become an IFBB Pro.I’ve never lost track of what brought me into fitness, and have always had an affinity for working with individuals and athletes rehabbing from injuries.
When Dianne invited me to be part of Gold’s, Linglestown, I knew it was a chance to continue pursuing a career I loved, in the company of other professionals in an environment that would foster results for our clients. As I’ve aged, I realize now more than ever how living a healthy and fit lifestyle can improve the quality of life and hold at bay the many aches and pains that aging former athletes often encounter on a daily basis. I encourage my clients to adopt a healthy lifestyle, combining exercise with healthy eating, and use a variety of training methods to help them meet their individual goals.
