Q: What happened to Retro Fitness in Layton? Why did they close & sale?
A: The owners of Retro Fitness Layton closed their doors on November 16th and were concerned regarding where the members would be able to accomplish their fitness goals so they sold their memberships to Gold’s Gym Utah. The Gold’s Gym Utah owners, are thrilled to welcome Retro Fitness members to the Gold’s Gym Utah family. They own and operate all 5 Gold’s Gym locations in Northern Utah and have helped Weber/Davis County residents achieve their fitness goals since opening their first Ogden gym in 1993. At Gold’s Gym Utah our mission is “To better the quality of life in our community and help individuals achieve their potential.”
Q: How do I use a Gold’s Gym location with my Retro Fitness Layton membership?
A: Simply bring your Retro Fitness key tag with you on your next visit to any of our Gold’s Gym Locations to use our facilities. Over the next few weeks we will be converting your membership over to our club database and will issue you an official Gold’s Gym key tag when that process is complete.
Q: How does this change my contract with Retro Fitness?
A: Your contract will not change, except it will now be a contract with Gold’s Gym. If you have paid in full, you will continue to have access to the gym until the end of your contract terms then have the option to renew with Gold’s Gym. If you have a monthly contract, you will continue to pay the same amount until the end of your contract terms. If you have questions, feel free to come in for a workout and speak to a Gold’s Gym team member.
Q: Do Retro Fitness members now have access to all Gold’s Gyms?
A: We are excited to welcome Retro Fitness Layton members to use our Gold’s Gym facilities located at Kaysville, Layton, Syracuse, Roy and Ogden. We hope these locations will make leading a healthy lifestyle even more convenient and simple for you and your family. Each location offers a little something different from Cardio Cinema and massage chairs to our lap pool in Ogden. Join us there to mix up your workout routine, train for a triathlon or participate in a gentler form of exercise. Retro VIP (Complete) members also have access to over 700 Gold’s Gym locations worldwide (up to 14 visits per gym, per year).
Q: Are there any age requirements for using the gym?
A. Yes. Any member 12 years and older is welcome to use the gym. Members 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult while working out. The childcare is available for those up to 11 years old (no appointments necessary) where the children participate in supervised age appropriate crafts, games, and play activities.
Q: Are there any requirements prior to using tanning booths?
A. Yes. Any member 18 years and older are welcome to use the tanning booths once the proper tanning consent forms have been authorized by the member. Members under the age of 18 are prohibited from tanning.
Q: What classes are included?
A: Your membership, if it included classes at Retro Fitness, will now allow you access to over 275 classes per week. These classes include Functional Interval training classes, GFIT, TRX, Les Mills, High Fitness, Spinning, and much more.
Q: What can Retro Fitness members look forward to?
A: Gold’s Gym is a nationally recognized brand, however, in Northern Utah, it’s a family owned and operated local franchise. This gives us a unique perspective and access to cutting edge information in a hometown setting. As members of Gold’s Gym, you will now have unlimited access to all 5 Gold’s Gyms in Utah. As health club owners since 1993, we know what makes a gym work and how we can keep your favorite locations in business. Most importantly, we are passionate about your fitness journey. You can expect clean, well maintained clubs with great group fitness programs, safe and fun kids club (daycare), professional staff and measurable results. The Gift of Fitness: Every Christmas Gold’s Gym Utah gives away (50) free 1-year memberships to local residents who were struggling and could benefit from the gift of fitness. We allow anyone to nominate themselves or others for the membership give away.
Sub for Santa: November 1st – December 24th we partner with Utah DCFS to put up Christmas trees in our facility that had decorations listing the age and needed gift items to be donated to local families who otherwise would have been without Christmas gifts. With the help of our wonderful employees, members, and local residents we were able to provide gifts to more than 100 local children and over 40 families this past Christmas.
Utah Food Bank Food Drive: During them months of October – December we are one of Utah food banks food drive hosts. Each facility had barrels and crates to store food that is donated by members, employees and anyone willing do drop off food that was donated to the Utah Food Bank to help feed hundreds of people during the holiday season. With the help of local residents we are able to fill barrels of food that are donated to the local chapters of the Utah Food Bank.
I GIVE GOLD’S GYM GIVES: Gold’s Gym Utah donated over $5,300 to the American Diabetes Association in November 2015, and donated over $4,300 to the Susan G. Komen foundation in November 2016. Every year we choose a foundation and cause that we feel will benefit from the funds donated and awareness brought by creating awareness themes in our group fitness classes.
Q: What if I have problems/suggestions? Who can I contact?
A: Please feel free to stop by and meet a Gold’s Gym team member or Manager at the front desk. We will have extra staff on hand for the next little while to help with the overall experience and conversion process for the convenience of retro fitness members.
Q: What if I would like to cancel my membership?
A: According to your membership agreement terms if you are not currently under a termed agreement you can cancel by notifying ABC financial and giving your 60 day notice via registered mail and fulfilling any other terms of the agreement.
