Hot Yoga: Also known as Bikram Yoga, this is a special class that takes place in a “hot” room — 105 F, as a matter of fact, plus increased humidity. The environment is designed to raise your heart rate and tire your muscles. (Please note that this is a physically demanding class that is not recommended for beginners)
Iyengar: This form of yoga places an emphasis on the poses, or asanas. In Iyengar yoga, there is a right way to assume and hold an asana, and your instructor is there to help you achieve it. Iyengar yoga also uses props and tools, such as blocks, straps, pillows, and bolsters.
Vinyasa: Sometimes known as flow yoga, this is a class that incorporates breathing with asanas to help the body and mind work together more smoothly. Poses will “flow” together rather than be held for long periods of time.
