GOLDS GYM MIDDLETOWN PROMOTES FITNESS AND COMMUNITY
The
staff members of Golds Gym Middletown NY have discovered a new way to do
business that’s proving to be a triple winner for communities around the
country. They’re members of the Fitness Fundraisers network, which puts a
health club membership within reach of just about everybody, raises money for community
organizations and brings new members to health clubs.
“It’s
a win-win-win,” said Bob Roche, owner of Golds Gym Middletown. “We’re so
pleased to spread the fitness message and help our local organizations raise
money at the same time.”
Here’s
how Fitness Fundraisers works: Local fund-raising organizations first register
online with Fitness Fundraisers, whose staff members match them with gyms and
health clubs in their areas. Fitness Fundraisers provides all the tools and
resources the groups need, including customized marketing materials, order
forms and health club passes. Instead of holding bake sales and chocolate bar
drives, group members sell three-month passes to health clubs for only $20. Passes are sold to new members only over the
age of 18, and only one pass is allowed per person. The group keeps $10 for each pass sold. The
average fund-raising group sells 100 to 150 passes, but some have sold as many
as 500 in a single fund-raising drive. Fund-raisers with groups from
parent-teacher organizations to school bands to church groups and charities say
the passes are easy to sell because of the high awareness of the value of
exercise and family fun. And there’s no minimum order of passes and no limit to
the amount of money a group can raise.
"The Fitness Fundraiser was a great success and the
passes practically sold themselves. People were happy to purchase a healthy service which they could really benefit
from, as well as support a local program. We easily doubled our expectations
for this fund-raiser. The team at
Fitness Fundraisers was a pleasure to work with and made accommodations when we
needed them to. I would definitely
recommend this fundraiser for organizations trying to raise funds quickly and
easily!"

For
the athletic clubs, the benefit shows up in increased new memberships after the
three-month opportunity to earn the pass holders’ business. Many clubs find
that close to 50 percent of the people who buy the three-month passes convert
to permanent memberships. One high school band in the Middletown, NY area sold
500 membership passes in three weeks to a three-location health club. Almost
all the pass holders came into the clubs, and more than 200 committed to
long-term memberships. The result for the clubs was more than $20,000 a month
in increased revenue. And the new members were on their way to healthier
lifestyles.
There’s
no limit to the number of groups who can partner with a local health club. Some
clubs have matched up with several hundred fund-raising groups. The
fund-raising partners for Golds Gym Middletown NY include many local schools
and organizations which are raising money for a variety of purposes
“This is a whole new way of doing business for
us,” said Bob Roche. “It stands to benefit so many people in Middletown and surrounding areas in Orange County and
improve the fitness of our community, too.”
