Make-A-Wish Foundation

 

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation^® has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions. From their humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, they've evolved into an organization that grants a child’s wish in the U.S. every 41 minutes. In 2005 Gold's Gym's of Deer Park & Smithtown decided to support our local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation by organizing a fundraising spin-a-thon (see pictures below). With 2 clubs, 50 bikes a live band and a DJ our only goal was to raise enough money ($5000) to grant one child's wish. Thanks to an enormous effort put out by our Gold's Gym team and the generousity of our members and community we were able to raise over $19,000. Enough to grant 3 children's wishes with money to spare. A huge success to say the least.

 

On Saturday, November 18th, 2006 we are proud to announce that we will be hosting our 2nd annual Make-A-Wish fundraiser. This years event will be an absolute blockbuster. With 4 clubs and 100 bikes a 5 hour spin-a-thon alone would reach our goal of 4 wishes. But to raise the bar a little our Team Dance will be running a 5 hour dance-a-thon while our Mind & Body Team holds a 3 hour yoga-thon. All 3 great events will be held simultaneously at our newly opened, 45,000 sq ft, Gold's Gym of Islip.
