Hi there! My name is Jess and I’m currently a Body Combat and Body Pump Instructor at Gold’s Gym, primarily Dundalk location. I fell in love with group fitness in 2010 and in January 2011 decided to go to training to be an instructor in Body Combat. Teaching group fitness is one of the most rewarding jobs; I love watching people come out of their shells and grow physically and mentally. The determination and motivation is such amazing fuel! Slowly, but surely we’re breaking the old notation that cardio = boring! Besides group fitness, I am also a huge animal lover! I live with my 2 cats, Uno and Trinity in Pasadena where I was born and raised. I currently do hold a day job at AT&T Government Solutions Sector as an Administrative Manager. When I’m not at work or teaching I can be found baking the best cupcakes you’ll ever taste or at a local venue jammin’ out to rock bands! Join me for a Body Combat class Monday’s 7:30pm at Gold’s Gym Dundalk!
CPR/AED Certified? Yes
Education/Certification: I’m an AFAA Group Certified Instructor; Les Mills Certified Body Combat and Body Pump Instructor; I’ve completed the Body Combat Advanced Instructor Module 1; Aside from fitness I hold a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Psychology from Towson University.
How many years have you worked at Gold’s Gym? 4
Classes you currently teach: Body Combat and Body Pump
What led you to group fitness? In 2011 I wanted to start working out, but the treadmill and elliptical bored me to tears. My best friend took me to a Body Combat class and I was sold! I loved being in a group working out together to music and it made an hour go by so quick. With different formats to choose from I never ran out of options. Six months after that first class I was going to Instructor Training for Body Combat and couldn’t wait to start motivating others and showing them how much fun cardio can be!
How do you spend your time outside of the gym? I like to hang out with my friends and go to rock shows in the city. I also love spending time with my kitties binge watching Netflix and horror movies!
Some advice for our GGX class members: HAVE FUN! Group Fitness is designed to be a way to work out AND have fun doing it. Make friends! They will quickly become like family and another reason you look forward to the gym. Ask questions about things you don’t understand or want to improve; even if it’s a suggestion for a certain track/music/move, instructors love it and welcome it!!
