Have you heard? There is a new Group Fitness class coming to 2 of the Gold’s Gym West Ga Gyms. That’s right! Gold’s Gym on Chapel Hill Road in Douglasville and Gold’s Gym off the East-West Connector in Cobb are proud to announce that they will now be hosting BARRE classes, in addition to their normal Group Fitness classes!
Many of you have already heard of BARRE, but there is probably a few of you who have no idea what I am referring to or why you should be excited about it. Have no fear! Below, I have put together a Q&A that covers some of the most common questions that have been asked. Take a look and see what you think:
What is BARRE?
We are featuring SoulBody Barre “Unhitched”, which is a one hour, mindfully intense class with the perfect mix of dynamic, isometric and isotonic movements that work deep into the muscle, seamlessly transitioning to deep stretches to balance the body. This class promotes opposition in the body as well as isometric push and pulls on the Body Bar to work deeper into the muscles, creating a more defined body with better balance and posture. Pulling from the principals of Pilates, the wisdom of yoga, the grace of dance and the body sculpting benefits of traditional interval strength training SoulBody Barre “Unhitched” helps develop dynamic strength, endurance, balance, flexibility and coordination.
Who is BARRE meant for?
According to the BARRE Fitness webpage, BARRE is designed for anyone between the ages of 15-69. Now, that’s not to say anyone over 69 years of age cannot attend or participate in class. What this implies is that based on studies of the moves and motions associated with BARRE, that most people ON AVERAGE over the age of 69, don’t quite fit the physical mode for the class. I have seen women well into their 80’s doing our POWER class. So if you are one of those super strong and super fit seniors… get into BARRE and show those young kids how to get their fitness on!
Will BARRE class be an additional charge, on top of membership?
NO WAY! If you already have the VIP membership that allows you to take Group Fitness classes, you have no restrictions on attending BARRE. If you by chance do not have the VIP membership, it’s not too late! See one of the sales counselors and ask them how to upgrade your membership, so that you can attend BARRE class and all of the other fantastic Group Fitness classes we offer.
What are the benefits of BARRE?
It can do so, so much good for your body! BARRE is well known for helping you find muscles that you didn’t even know you had. That isn’t a scary thing – I promise! That means BARRE is awesome at working the weaker areas of your body, those areas you don’t work in every day movements. BARRE class will aid in sculpting lean upper and lower body muscles, while also aiding in carving out those ab muscles you have been trying to earn for so long. Not to mention, if you are someone who struggles with flexibility, BARRE is where you need to be! (Get more benefits and tips with our special barre email updates. Subscribe here.)
What should you wear?
The normal attire for BARRE class is tighter fitting workout clothes, similar to what you would wear to a yoga class. This assists the class instructor in seeing your body’s form and movements. It also helps you move around with ease and not get caught up in anything like baggy sweat shirts or long and bulky basketball shorts.
Where will BARRE classes be held?
BARRE class will be held in the Group Fitness studio of the 2 gyms. Only two props needed – a Body Bar and Ball!
How about it? Doesn’t BARRE sound like an AWESOME time! There is nothing to be afraid of – this is going to be a new experience for the majority of our members. You will not be alone in feeling timid, yet excited, about jumping into this new class.
We look forward to seeing you in the upcoming BARRE classes at Gold’s Gym on Chapel Hill Rd. in Douglasville and Gold’s Gym on the East-West connector in Cobb!
