Getting fit while having fun? Sounds too good to be true, but completely attainable with Group Fitness classes! Are you missing out?
If you are one of the people I talk to at the gym, who tells me that Group Fitness or group exercise just “isn’t for me” – you are EXACTLY who I want to read this article. It is directed at you, my friend. I’m sure there are a number of reasons you have come up with to convince yourself that you aren’t meant to have anything to do with Group Fitness classes. Well, I think you are wrong. In fact, I have 3 reasons that will trump all of your excuses and misconceptions about the Group Fitness world.
Take a look and see what I’m talking about…
YOU COULD MEET YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND!
I know, I know – you probably already have a best friend, but you can have more than one! Group Fitness is the IDEAL place to socialize and meet new people. The gym floor can go two ways when it comes to socializing. It can either be the place where people sit around on all the equipment and chat, or the place where people are walking around looking at the ground to stay in their own world or working out with headphones crammed deep into their ears so that they don’t lose concentration by having someone try and talk to them.
In a Group Fitness class, you don’t have to worry about feeling out of place or having the feeling that no one wants to speak to you. It says it in the name: GROUP Fitness. It is a group of people who want to get fit and they are part of GROUP fitness to be with other people who are just like themselves! People who want to work out and hang out with friends at the same time. Group Fitness classes are where you have the opportunity to meet people who will keep you motivated. The next time the person on the bike next to you in RIDE class drops their towel, don’t just keep looking ahead like you didn’t see them. No, instead reach down and grab that towel for them, smile and say “Hey, this towel is too dry! You must not be working hard enough!” Then when they give you that timid smile back, introduce yourself! You never know who else may be out there looking for a friend…
YOU WON’T GET BORED!
You know how after a while of working out, you begin to get a little frustrated? Then a little frustrated turns into super frustrated; which leads to you quitting your gym time altogether. You don’t need that – no way! What you DO need, however, is Group Fitness! The Gold’s Gyms of West Georgia have a great system in place to keep you coming back for more Group Fitness classes. How? Every 3 months, we have what is called a “Launch”. The Launch occurs at the end of the 3 months when it is time to change the routine in each class. By the time you have mastered the workout in whatever class you may be in, that 3 month change-up rolls around and it is time for you to learn a whole new routine, full of fun and effective exercises! You see? There is no way for you to get bored when there are so many classes to choose from, that offer something new every 12 weeks!
YOU WILL USE PROPER EXERCISE TECHNIQUE!
So, you know when you are thinking about branching out of your comfort zone and you decide to take on trying out a new piece of gym equipment or a new exercise you saw online? We all have done that. Everyone goes through a phase where they want to try something new and exciting, instead of the same old boring fitness routine. The only problem is, you may not know the proper exercise technique or proper form. You may think that form isn’t such a big deal when it comes to working out. I may not know you personally, but I am willing to place money down and bet that if you think this is the case – you have never been more wrong in your life.
Form and technique are absolutely EVERYTHING when it comes to working out and getting the most out of exercising. Why is this such a big deal? Without technique, you run the risk of hurting yourself or someone around you. There is also the definite possibility that you will not achieve your goals because you are not exercising in the most efficient ways possible. Group Fitness classes can save you from yourself! Go into any Group Fitness class in the Gold’s Gym West Ga gyms and you will notice that your class Instructor spends a SIGNIFICANT amount of time making sure to explain EXACTLY how you should be doing the routine. They’ll tell you how fast or slow to go, how much or how little weight you should be using and so many other things that factor in to you getting the most out of the class! The instructors definitely don’t want you getting hurt in their class. Oh, heck no. They want you to feel like you learned something and that you enjoyed yourself, so that you will go tell your friends how awesome the class was and you’ll maybe even bring those friends with you next time!
Pretty hard to argue with all of that now, isn’t it? Well, what on earth are you waiting for? Go on – it’s probably almost time for the next class to start! After all, I know you don’t want to risk missing out on Group Fitness any more than you already have. I hope you have a great time with your new friends, your proper form and your -anything but boring- exercise routines!
