More Crazy Talk About Weight Loss
I’ve already revealed my first 2 startling truths about weight loss and you can read those here, but there is more to share because there is so much misinformation in the marketplace about the best way to lose weight – and to keep it off!
- Exercise is an important aspect of weight loss, but it’s not the only one: It’s true! We all need physical activity in our lives, but it shouldn’t be thought of as our “free pass.” I see it time and time again – exercise as a free pass so we can eat that doughnut for breakfast, because we are going to go run it off on the treadmill later. Hear me now: that is just not how it works. This especially applies to those of us who have sedentary types of jobs and don’t get to have much more than an hour for our lunch break away from our desks. Staying on the move through the day, along with the proper nutrients and healthy eating habits, will keep us at our peak. Always remember that you cannot work off a bad diet. It’s unfortunately just not the case. (Our personal trainers have deep experience in helping you craft a daily routine that will work with you and not against you. Check them out.)
- Don’t do artificial sweeteners: Diet sodas and sugar free candies are not your friend. They are especially not your friend when you are trying to lose weight. Recent studies have shown that artificial sweeteners trick the part of your brain that normally tells you that you are full into telling your body that you are still hungry. So, by consuming these “guilt free” drinks and snacks, we are actually making ourselves want to eat more than we would if we did not consume them. Remind yourself the next time you think about going for a diet soda or sugar free candy that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
