I was fortunate enough to experience a wonderful 30+ years in education, both as a teacher and as a school counselor. I retired 7 years ago and since then have been thoroughly enjoying my free time. I love to travel and since retiring, have been to Italy and Greece, have been on several cruises, and also like train travel. My next trip to Arizona (Grand Canyon & Sedona)is coming up shortly.
I also love photography and have fun taking pictures wherever I go.
Family is so important to me. My daughter lives in NYC so I spend a lot of time there.
Four years ago I found myself in terrible pain and discovered I had 2 herniated discs in my neck. After trying other options unsuccessfully, I finally had surgery which was a success. A year later I had a heart attack! (And I thought I was in good health!) Upon recovering from that, I decided to join Gold’s Gym. I had always been active but was never a “gym” person. I had always been intimidated by gyms but the heart attack made me determined to get past that and take better care of myself.
So, about 3 years ago I bit the bullet & went to visit Gold’s gym. The employees were very friendly and encouraging. I discovered that I truly enjoyed working out. I go to the gym 5 days a week and if I have to miss a day, I don’t like it. While there I use the elliptical, the bike and the treadmill, each for about 30 minutes. 3 days a week I also use leg machines. I don’t do much upper body because my neck tells me not to if I try! I recently started senior cycle class and love it.
I’ve made many friends since joining and look forward to catching up with them. So, Gold’s has become not only a physical strengthening for me but also a social connection. I am happier and feel more confident in all aspects of my life and I think Gold’s has played a huge part in that.
