Tamika has a natural love for all things that test your mental and physical fortitude: spin classes, GRIT, personal training..you name it! After years of “looking fit” due to genetics and metabolism, she quickly learned that at some point those things fail you and you have to put in the work to make your heart healthy and build muscle tone. After years of advanced step aerobics classes, which challenged her joints, she found spin classes. These became her new found love; so much so that it was her first fitness certification. Soon after a AFAA Personal Training Certification, PiYo Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat, CX Worx, GRIT and Sprint followed. She has had the privilege of introducing the majority of these programs within the Gold’s Gym family of gyms.
She believes in pushing your limits in order to increase your fitness level and works with a trainer twice a week so that she is continuously challenged to get stronger.. This makes her a better instructor. Her fitness philosophy is that we are always stronger, fitter, and faster than we think and there is no better way to find your strength and endurance than to challenge and push yourself, or at least put yourself in an environment that motivates you to be better.

What led you to group fitness? Being a participant is what led to my interest in teaching. Motivated by great instructors, I was inspired to teach the classes that I loved.
How do you spend your time outside of the gym? I am fortunate to have two jobs that that I love. When I am not in the gym, I am a full time Realtor. I spend my time selling homes. Socially, I enjoy roller skating, dancing and happy hour with friends (including my gym family). I also train outside of the gym with my a personal trainer. As an instructor, I believe we need to look, act and role model the part. Always striving to better myself so that I can push and inspire the members.
Some advice for our GGX class members: Try new things/classes. Our bodies need variety. Try a class that scares you and don’t go just once.
