2015 Gold’s Challenge winners prove the old adage, half the battle is just showing up.
Wow. Just Wow.
That’s how many of us first reacted to Gold Challenge winner Maribel Contreras’ video above. Click play if you haven’t already, I’ll wait. Her story is truly inspiring.
“I was about to get my stomach stapled, and then I realized, I’m the only one that can change me.” says Maribel.
What a powerful example of personal epiphany. It reminded me of an old U.S. Marine Corps slogan, “Your mind is your greatest weapon.”In this case, Maribel’s mind became her greatest asset.
On the verge of surgery—all surgeries carry some level of risk—Maribel realized that within herself hibernated the will, discipline, desire, “want-to” or whatever you want to call “it” to overcome her weight challenges.
Maribel really wanted to lose weight, and the surgery could have accomplished that. But watching her video, you begin to realize that she may have lost the weight, but gained something that surgery wouldn’t have given her.
In a short fifteen-second video, it almost seems like magic. It wasn’t. It was a lot work and effort, but effort she enjoyed.
For those not yet addicted to the fitness high, it may all sound a bit absurd.
But watch those 15 seconds again. Think about what Maribel overcame with the power of self. Those are real results.
