Staying active on a daily basis is the easy part. Staying motivated is more of a challenge. The key is to find a variety of exercises that you can do to help keep you going. The following are a few tips on how to stay active (and motivated) on a daily basis at an Ashburn Gym.
How to Squeeze in a Workout into Your Day
In addition to joining an Ashburn fitness club, there are easy activities that you can do when you’re away from the gym. If you work in a corporate office or a home office, there are a few exercises that you can do to stay active. For example, you can tighten and flex your quadriceps, hamstrings and abs by simply holding them for 30 seconds at a time.
Exercise While Watching TV
While you’re watching your favorite movie or TV show, you can exercise during the commercials. Believe it or not, this actually works. Combine an exercise routine that includes push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks and lunges. We’ve got a great cardio workout room with tons of big screen TV’s and even a cardio-cinema room.
Exercise While You Shop
The next time you go grocery shopping, instead of selecting items that are the closest distance, take your list and go from one end of the store to the next. That way, you’re walking around the store instead of taking the easy route.
In addition to joining a Gold’s Ashburn fitness club, you might want to do some indoor exercises in your home. Everyday house chores can help burn a few extra calories. For example, window cleaning, gardening, mopping the kitchen floor and vacuuming can help keep you active.
Other exercises you can do are push-ups, crunches and squats. You can even split your exercise sessions up. For instance, you can do push-ups and squats in the morning and do your crunches when you get home in the evening. It’s amazing how doing indoor exercises on a regular basis can really help burn calories and tone your body up.
Besides hiking, running, swimming and playing sports, there are a few active outdoor activities that you can do to stay in shape. For example, you can mow the lawn and bag up your own leaves. Lawn mowing and raking leaves can actually burn a lot of calories – you’ll be surprised.
Other fun exercises that you can do outdoors is long distance walking and bike riding. If you work during the day and you get an hour lunch break, cut your eating time down to 15 minutes and use the remaining time to take a brisk walk.
Instead of parking close to your job, try parking far away and use that time to walk to your place of work. Instead of taking the elevator to the office, try taking the stairs. You’ll be amazed at how many calories you can lose by just following these simple steps.
